1. Listen to Francesco Tristano
What: Piano maestro on home turf
Where: Online concert stream
When: Friday, 24 July at 8pm - facebook event here.
Luxembourg-born pianist Francesco Tristano tours the world performing baroque and contemporary repertoire, records dance tracks for electronic music labels, all whilst continuing his ambitious project of recording all of Johann Sebastian Bach’s piano repertoire. His concert at the Philharmonie was completely sold out this week, so we're in luck that the venue continues its already legendary streaming series "Phil Live doheem". Lean back, have a drink and enjoy Francesco Tristano from the comfort of your home.

What: The evolution of the capital in pictures
Where: Cercle Cité, 2, rue Genistre, L-2012 Luxembourg
When: Friday, 24 July - Sunday, 26 July between 11am-7pm
The year 2020 is marked by the 25th anniversary of the entry of the City of Luxembourg in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In order to show this precious heritage at its best, the “Photothèque” of the City of Luxembourg has delved into both the old and the recent collections of photographs which form its own archives. The result is a visual and seemingly tangible homage to this UNESCO World Heritage site, revealing its ever-changing appearance - more information here.

4. Rocketman: Elton John biographical film
What: Drive-in cinema
Where: Glacis, Luxembourg
When: Friday, 24 July at 9.30pm - tickets €10 per car.
This excellent rock biopic depicts the life of legendary artist Elton John. After completing his studies, Reginald (Elton John not his real name) begins to perform rock music at local pubs. Later, he meets John Reid, a music manager, who helps him rise to fame, but also creates chaos in his life.
For a summer like no other, the Ville de Luxembourg and the Cinémathèque Luxembourg have brought back the legendary drive-in cinema at the Champ du Glacis - looking back to a vintage way of going to the cinema that started in the United States in the 1930s, and which reached its peak popularity in the 1950s and 1960s.

7. British settlements challenging our responsibility towards nature
What: Outdoor photo exhibition in castle gardens
Where: Clervaux Castle, 9711 Clervaux, Luxembourg
When: Friday, 24 July - Sunday 26 July
David Spero‘s “Settlements” draw the portrait of a few communities in Britain that have chosen to partially separate and live in parallel from so-called mainstream society out of ecological considerations. His work shows homemade houses and their inhabitants, as well as the gardens that allow them to support themselves and ensure their autonomy.
This rejection of the current, globalised social trends is not an act of defiance or based on an anarchist stance towards society. Rather, these new settlements want to challenge our responsibility towards nature. Perhaps we should not hand all of it over to political systems?
