Today Radio’s Melissa Dalton was joined on The Home Stretch by Maïté Ademes from the Cité Bibliothèque and Mathias ‘Mett’ Hoffmann from the municipality of Luxembourg City (VDL). Both came to the studio on Monday to promote the third edition of the capital’s ‘The City Reads’ event, taking place in the courtyard next to Notre-Dame Cathedral from Wednesday 16 August to Sunday 3 September.
The City Reads is a collaboration between the municipal library and the City’s Public Space and Events department. It was first organised in 2021 and has since become an annual rendezvous for book lovers and readers of all ages. There will be daytime and evening readings in different languages, including a poetry slam, a theatre performance, and readings accompanied by live music.
Tune in for a preview of the event and find out what Maïté and Mett’s favourite books are!
Since graduating in product design management, Mett Hoffmann has been very active in Luxembourg’s culture scene, organising events like the ‘Nuit des Lampions’ and ‘Food for Your Senses’. In 2021, he joined the Luxembourg City events department where he has since been working on major public events, like ‘City Sounds’, ‘Blues’n’Jazz Rallye’, and of course ‘The City Reads’.
Maïté Ademes has a degree in social work and has been employed by the Cité Bibliothèque as an educator since 2019. She is part of the educational team that organises guided tours in the municipal library as well as kids activities to promote the joy of reading. During this year’s edition of ‘The City Reads’, Maïté is in charge of programming the events.
