1. Attend Big Bang Festival

What: Adventurous music festival for young audiences

When: Saturday, 3 July - Sunday, 4 July between 12pm-7pm

For the very first time, the Big Bang Festival will make its grand debut in Luxembourg, aimed at young audiences (5+). Numerous locations around Neimenster will present a diverse programme of concerts and captivating sound installations. Expect African music, a 18-piece marching band, baroque music, orchestral performances and a musical labyrinth. Definitely a festival for the entire family, so drag your parents along, kids!

2. Watch 30 of the world’s best short films

Broadcast in four parts of 2h30 between 1-4 July, the Cinémathèque of Luxembourg City is set to host the 2021 edition of Les Nuits en Or 2021. Thousands of film industry professionals voted for their favourite short films, all from around the world. The audience will therefore be able to enjoy winners of the French Caesar, the American Oscar, the English Bafta, but also The Goya of Spain, Ariel for Mexico etc. Welcome to the cultures of the world and the filmmakers of tomorrow!

3. Enter industrial sites of Esch

The FerroForum was launched with the aim of preserving and promoting the cultural, industrial and artisanal heritage as well as the know-how around the creation of iron and steel. The project is an integral part of the program of Esch 2022 - European Capital of Culture, but aims to stay around in the long run. Established as a non-profit association, the FerroForum is located in the central workshop of the former steel plant in Arbed Esch-Schifflange. On Saturday, strap on your leather boots, protective gear, masks and discover the forbidden city...

4. Hear Pol Belardi’s childhood memories live

What: Music of Zelda, Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy

It’s no secret that the soundtracks of video games, played by Pol Belardi during his childhood have left an imprint on the musician’s development. One of the first creative exercises of the gifted musician was copying and rearranging the themes of his favourite classics such as Zelda, Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy. Moving back and forth between controller and keyboard, the influences of the 8 to 64 bit repertoire are undeniable. Always amazed by the creativity of the Japanese composers in his favourite games, Pol has embarked on arranging selected themes for a group of talented musicians. Time to see it live once again at Festival de Wiltz.

5. Go castle-watching in Luxembourg’s “wild west”

Guttland is the green paradise for nature lovers and famous for its “Valley of the seven castles”, named after the seven castles that line its route. The castles are Mersch, Schoenfels, Hollenfels, and the four old and new castles of Ansembourg and Septfontaines. Most of the sites host guided tours, have intriguing exhibitions and some tasty morsels available at restaurants. Of course there’s plenty of time for hiking and exploring the area. 6. Celebrate Pride Week in Esch-sur-Alzette

What: Long lives diversity

LGBTIQ+ people have been marginalised for centuries and are still far too often victims of social hatred and crime. During this week, people come together to take a moment to honour those who have not been as fortunate as some alive today, and pay their respects for the path they paved. But it’s also a week of celebration! The programme is diverse, including movie screenings, a pride show, panel discussions, and diva storytelling. Here’s an after-movie of the last event in 2019.

7. Visit the agricultural fair in Ettelbruck

What: Learn about local products and businesses

For many years, the city of Ettelbruck has been organising the agricultural fair (FAE), which has become the essential meeting point for all professionals in the green sector (farmers, foresters, horticulturists), trade, scientific research in agro-/bio-technology. Particular emphasis is placed on the presentation of Luxembourg products and raising consumer awareness of the discovery of regional products. A place to check out, even if you’re just a casual visitor with no background in the business, and even it’s just for the food!
