Known for their boundary-pushing blend of krautrock, lounge pop, and vintage synths, Stereolab return with a 13-track record written by core duo Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane, performed with their current touring line-up. The album features contributions from a range of collaborators including Cooper Crain, Rob Frye, Ben LaMar Gay, and members of Cavern of Anti-Matter.
The release is being teased with a uniquely Stereolab twist: fans recently received unsolicited 7" vinyl in the mail featuring lead single Aerial Troubles and a cryptic wordsearch insert, sparking intrigue and speculation online. The track itself is a lush, layered return to form, paired with a video directed by Laurent Askienazy.
Instant Holograms On Metal Film will be available on double vinyl, CD and digital formats. It follows the band’s recent reissues and compilation releases, and marks a full-circle moment since their indefinite hiatus announcement back in 2009.
Luxembourg fans will get to hear the new material live when Stereolab perform at den Atelier on 20 June as part of their extensive 2025 tour.
