The Kellerkinder collective, founded on a shared passion for techno and fueled by the camaraderie among childhood friends, aims to debunk the idea that techno is only for a niche crowd.
At the core of Kellerkinder’s vision is the concept of “techno Salon fähig machen,” (literally “to make techno salon-worthy”). This mission seeks to spread techno beyond the confines of dimly lit basements to more mainstream venues such as Melusina, Mirador, and the upper city in Luxembourg.
In these settings, Kellerkinder blends darker techno sounds with the joy of dancing, creating an experience that goes beyond the typical techno scene. The collective envisions techno as a genre that can thrive anywhere, challenging the notion that it belongs only to specific spaces.
Moving from unconventional venues to more mainstream locations is a deliberate effort by Kellerkinder to showcase the versatility of techno. They believe that techno can be embraced by everyone, regardless of their background or preferences. Their performances aim to bring together a diverse mix of personalities, those who savor dancing with a twist to fetish aficionados, leather-clad individuals, and folks just looking to unwind after a day in the corporate grind.
Kellerkinder’s inclusive approach stems from the belief that, despite differences, everyone shares the common goal of having a good time. In a judgment-free environment, the collective invites people to join them in enjoying the moment – dancing, having fun, and embracing the collective experience.
While Kellerkinder is open to performing at underground venues like The Ground in the Gare district, their primary objective is to challenge the “dark” image associated with techno. Through their events, they aim to prove that techno can be a relatable and enjoyable experience for a diverse audience. Don’t miss the chance to witness this transformation –join them at The Ground on January 26th at 11.55pm for an event that not only challenges stereotypes but also celebrates the inclusive and vibrant spirit of techno culture.
