It was an evening charged with emotion and, in the end, one artist emerged on top: with the song Mother Nature and 222 points, Eva Marija won the third edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest at the Rockhal and will now represent the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
Eight very different contestants, each performing a distinct song, took to the stage on Saturday and gave it their all. After the first round of voting, the jury, viewers at home and the audience in the Rockhal selected three acts to advance.
In the end, it was Eva Marija who secured the most votes. The result not only crowns the winner of the third edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest, but also determines who will represent the Grand Duchy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna this May.
Fresh off her Luxembourg Song Contest victory, Eva Marija was still visibly in shock as the final points came in, calling it ‘truly crazy’. The youngest competitor of the night said she had never felt stress like it, describing how her hands shook more intensely with every jury vote before she finally surrendered the moment to faith and hoped for the best.
Representing Luxembourg was something she took great pride in, describing the win as a step forward in a career already rooted in music. Looking ahead to the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, she said her aim was to create a sense of calm and hope on stage and to make the most of performing in what she described as a city of music.
