Clueso returned to Luxembourg on Sunday evening with songs from his latest album, Deja Vu, performing in the sold-out courtyard of Neumünster Abbey.

The German singer was clearly taken with both the setting and the Luxembourg audience. He repeatedly expressed his enthusiasm for Luxembourg throughout the evening, and by the end of the night he had summed up his feelings in emphatic fashion, saying: "Dear diary, what should I write? Luxembourg: 11 out of 10."

It was not Clueso's first open-air concert in the country. In July 2023, he performed at Echterlive.

There was no support act this time. Instead, Clueso's music took centre stage from the very first minute, not only through the distinctive sound of his voice but also through the rich musical textures created by his band, which filled the courtyard of Neumünster Abbey.

He opened with Chicago, immediately getting the crowd singing along. Alongside familiar classics, the setlist also featured several newer songs, with trumpet, saxophone, and trombone adding particular depth to a number of tracks.

From Die Fantastischen Vier to Udo Lindenberg

The entire band appeared taken with the setting. Even before the concert, Clueso had told RTL how fond he was of Luxembourg and its capital.

One of the evening's more emotional moments came with Ballon, a song from his latest album that he wrote for his father. Sunday marked the first time he had ever performed it live.

Throughout the concert, Clueso also shared short stories with the audience, including one about how he once persuaded Udo Lindenberg to join him on a talk show. Shortly afterwards, he performed Cello, albeit without Udo himself.

After almost 90 minutes, Clueso turned the planned setlist on its head and began taking requests from the audience. The fans were delighted, while the singer and his band threw themselves into songs including Achterbahn, Zusammen, and Tanzen.

Zusammen was originally recorded with Die Fantastischen Vier. The group was not there on Sunday evening, but is due to perform at an open-air concert in Belval next June.
