Iron & Wine has returned with a new single, “Robin’s Egg,” a collaboration with folk trio I’m With Her. The track arrives ahead of a joint summer tour that will see both acts share the stage for a series of shows in July.
Written and produced by Sam Beam, Iron & Wine’s creative force, the song is both breezy and intricate, weaving his understated songwriting with the lush harmonies of Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan, and Sara Watkins. Their voices elevate “Robin’s Egg” into something distinctly collaborative, a piece that captures the spirit of artists eager to explore each other’s musical space.
I’m With Her are enjoying momentum of their own, having just released Wild and Clear and Blue to critical acclaim last month. With all three members acclaimed solo performers as well, the group has built a reputation for blending technical precision with warmth and presence. Pairing that with Beam’s lyrical intimacy makes “Robin’s Egg” a natural fit.
Reflecting on the track, Beam said:“I had the start of ‘Robin’s Egg’ kicking around and began finishing the tune earlier this year with I’m With Her in mind. We had already started to plan our summer tour together; I passed it to them with the hope they were up for adding their voices to it and lucky for me they were! I’m looking forward to performing it, and a few other surprises, with them this summer.”
The tour will take its name from the new single and is being billed as an open-ended collaboration between the two groups. Fans can expect a mix of material from both catalogs, as well as shared performances that highlight the chemistry heard on “Robin’s Egg.”
