Luxembourg Open Air (LOA), Luxembourg's biggest electronic music festival, closes 2024 off with a bang on Place de l'Europe, nestled between the Philharmonie, Mudam and European institution buildings.
Festival-goers can see a two-day line-up of internationally renowned DJs, turning the usually sedate Kirchberg square into a bustling night life spot. It is the closing weekend of Luxembourg Open Air (LOA) and the public are raring to go.
Headlining are British DJ Joel Corry and Pajane, playing a back-to-back set on Friday night. Other big names include Vini Vici, Da Tweekaz, Sunnery, DAF, Dubvision and more.
Founder and organising partner Sebastian Jacqué joined Alice on Today Radio on Wednesday, telling us more about what to expect and what it's like to organise a festival of this scale.
Setting out in 2019, after identifying that there was limited access for fans of electronic music, compared to those in neighbouring countries, LOA began as one date event and has swiftly developed into a two tiered, multi day extravaganza, and one that Jacqué is particularly proud of, in its support for Luxembourg artists as well as Global Talent. "Together with the Djs and the music, we are developing animations, additional content that goes into creating the heart and soul of LOA" Jacqué says of steps taken in hitting the right vibe and creating a unique experience.
There will be a brand new mainstage "the biggest we have ever had", there will be workshops, hair boutiques, racing simulators, street performers, food and drink trucks.
Having navigated difficult times during the COVID years, Jacqué is immensely proud of what the team has achieved in such a short space of time, with LOA being able to compete for marquee names and becoming well-established with international artists and promoters.
An edition of LOA already took place earlier in the year with its opening party held in Esch which was very well attended, despite the downpours.
Despite the success, organizers are simply taking it one edition at a time. So who knows what we may see in 2025
