Some three years on from the release of their debut “Wandering“, Seed To Tree are set to unveil their latest effort at Rockhal on Friday 22 March.
Darker in tone and wider in scope, Proportions sees Luxembourg’s next great hope free themselves of the shackles that early pigeonholing had caused.
No longer simply ‘that Luxo folk band’, Seed To Tree are fully fledged world beaters.
Talent has never been an issue. They’ve heaps of it. What was missing, perhaps, was some steel, some verve. Possibly a little bravado. The confidence that comes from hitting the road and getting on with both the good and the shitty elements of being in a band are the things that ensure there are stories to tell and, crucially, records to sell.
Without their relentless gigging and their drive to push on and succeed, this second record could quite easily have fallen into the trap of ‘more of the same’.
Happily ‘Proportions’ is anything but.
Tightly woven and dense in production this record....if toured AND supported properly by the Luxembourg media... could really see Seed To Tree take a huge step.
Often compared to Beirut, Villagers and The Temper Trap, Seed To Tree also inhabit the same sonic spaces as Mumford & Sons (the good parts) and Kings Of Leon.
The themes of the record also hint at something far further than big sound = big success, with the band keen to point out that they are evaluating and questioning ‘emotional, intellectual and spiritual proportions within ourselves and society’.
Or as Music:LX puts it:
“..The new album, named “Proportions”, sounds darker compared to their past work, leading to a musical world that is breaking with their traditional influences…”
