The 38th edition of the European Film Awards, held in Berlin on Saturday evening, honoured films and filmmakers across 19 categories from the past year.

The Norwegian film Sentimental Value by Joachim Trier received the most nominations. Vicky Krieps was also nominated in the category for best actress for her role in the film Love Me Tender which the actress co-produced under her own production company Viktoria Productions in 2025 alongside director Anna Cazenave Cambet.

The film is about a mother who comes out as a lesbian and has to fight for years against an abusive father for custody of her son, whom she often does not see for months. The film is based on the autobiographical novel by the writer Constance Debré.

Other nominees in this category were Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), Leonie Benesch (Heldin), Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (Duse) and Léa Drucker (Dossier 137). Renate Reinsve ultimately won.

All winners can be found on the website of the European Film Awards. The 39th edition will take place on 16 January 2027 in Athens.
