The renowned European Union Prize for Literature recognises emerging literary talents from 41 countries on a rotating basis. This means that every country has the chance to suggest a young talent for the shortlist every three years.

This year, Luxembourg has put forward Elise Schmit, whose latest work “Allgemeine Zweifel am weiteren Verlauf” is set to be published on 18 March.

14 countries are on this year’s shortlist. The winner will be awarded the prize at Warsaw’s Museum of Modern Art on 29 May, while two others will receive special mentions. Making the shortlist is an achievement in itself, offering the emerging authors a chance to increase visibility and reach a wider audience.

Schmit will also present her new book at the “Das Blaue Sofa” event at Institut Pierre Werner on 25 March.
