Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko of Mikasa will visit Luxembourg in March to deliver a public lecture on Japanese art at the Dräi Eechelen museum. The Embassy of Japan in Luxembourg announced that the Princess will hold a presentation titled ‘The Art of Copying – Creating Reproductions for the West’ from 1–2pm on 17 March.
The event is organised in collaboration with the National Museum of Archaeology, History and Art.
The lecture is free to attend, but advance reservation is mandatory due to limited seating capacity. Attendees are asked to arrive by 12.45pm at the latest and to take traffic and site accessibility into account.
According to the organisers, high demand is expected and the event may be fully booked shortly after the announcement. Those unable to secure a place will be added to a waiting list and contacted if spaces become available.

Princess Akiko of Mikasa is the elder daughter of Prince and Princess Tomohito of Mikasa. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Japanese art from the University of Oxford in June 2010, becoming the first female member of the Japanese Imperial family to obtain a PhD.
In addition to her academic work, she founded ‘Shinyusha’, an initiative dedicated to passing on traditional Japanese culture to younger generations through workshops and educational events.
The Embassy of Japan said it is honoured to welcome the Princess to Luxembourg and encouraged those interested to reserve tickets through the official registration link as soon as possible.
Luxembourg’s Grand-Ducal family and Japan’s Imperial family have enjoyed long-standing ties, with Grand Duke Henri joining the throne accession of Emperor Naruhito in Tokyo in 2019.
