If you get as exited as Samwise Gamgee at the prospect of seeing oliphants, this exhibition is definitely for you.

Canadian artist John Howe is best known for his work as a conceptual designer on the film trilogy "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit", but also worked on films such as "Pan's Labyrinth". In collaboration with fellow artist Alan Lee, he made Middle-Earth come to life and shaped our idea of this magical realm like no other.

30 of the 40 works displayed at the Cercle Cité are original concept designs for "The Lord of the Rings" while the remaining ten delve into John Howe's own fantasy world. In a stark contrast to our modern world, Howe's work takes you through roughly-hewn dwarven halls, ethereal elvish realms and allows you to peek into the brimming larders of Hobbiton.

The exhibition takes place in connection to the 8th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival and in collaboration with the Imaginales d’Epinal, a literary and fantasy festival in France.

The Luxembourg City Film Festival, has already announced  that there it will offer four different workshops on Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" between 24 February and 3 March.
