Luxembourg’s national football team has been dealt a heavy setback with the loss of Seid Korac, who will miss the entirety of the upcoming UEFA Nations League championship.
The twenty-four-year-old defender, who has been capped twenty-three times for the national side, sustained a cruciate ligament injury during a match in the Italian championship over the weekend. Korac's club, Hellas Verona, confirmed on Monday evening that he will require surgery for the injury.
Korac’s absence adds to the challenges facing head coach Jeff Strasser. Key players Christopher Martins and Yvandro Borges are also unavailable, while doubts remain over the fitness of Mathias Olesen and Enzo Dos Santos, both of whom have only recently returned from injury. Furthermore, Eldin Dzogovic was withdrawn from the squad on Monday.
Luxembourg will play their first Nations League match away against Bulgaria at 6pm on Saturday.
