The Diamond League is the highest level of international competition in athletics, featuring the sport’s top performers. Patrizia van der Weken has earned her place among this elite field thanks to her impressive results in recent years. This season marks her second appearance on the Diamond League circuit.
On Sunday, van der Weken competed in Stockholm, Sweden, where she delivered her fastest 100-metre time of the still-young season. She crossed the finish line in 11.05 seconds, securing a podium spot in third place. Although this result was just 0.05 seconds shy of her personal best of 11.00 seconds, it further cements her status among Europe’s top sprinters. The race was won by American Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, who finished in 10.84 seconds, ahead of Great Britain's Amy Hunt, who took second place in 10.97 seconds.
