The Ministry of Sport has unveiled a €20 million reform that will replace the existing "Qualité +" system with three new funding programmes, giving clubs greater flexibility in choosing the support they receive.

"Mäi Veräin lieft Sport" ("My Club Lives Sport") is the title of the Ministry of Sport's reform introducing a new system through which Luxembourg's sports clubs can apply for financial aid. Previously, clubs could access support via the "Qualité +" programme. Under the new scheme, the system will be adapted to allow clubs to determine for themselves which forms of assistance are most relevant to their needs.

Three support programmes are being introduced. The first, "Sport et Société," will be available to all sports clubs from September 2027. It is primarily intended to support voluntary work, as well as Para Sport and the Special Olympics, among other initiatives.

From September 2028, clubs will also be able to apply for "Qualité +" and "Pro +." The latter is aimed mainly at clubs with a more professional structure, allowing them to invest the funding in technical and administrative areas, such as coaching staff or administrative personnel.

The additional cost of the reform is expected to reach approximately €20 million from 2029 onwards. In the past, only a maximum of one-third of Luxembourg's sports clubs benefited from the old Qualité + system. That programme will continue to run concurrently until September 2030.
