
At the 53rd edition of the European Championships for Cadets, Juniors, and Under-21s, Alexander Davies was crowned European champion in the U21 +84kg category, delivering an outstanding performance to secure the gold medal for Luxembourg. Davies, who trains at Karate Club Niederanven and is already a European silver medalist, won five consecutive bouts on his way to the title, defeating opponents from Romania, Montenegro, France, Belgium, and Ukraine.
His run included victories over several highly ranked fighters, including the world number two in the round of 16 and the world number three in the semi-final, before sealing the title with a convincing win in the final.
The Luxembourg delegation, made up of 20 athletes, showed determination and competitiveness throughout the three-day competition. Further standout performances came from Lana Jadin of Karate Club Differdange and Lucas Chaffort of Karate Club Strassen, who both finished in ninth place in their respective U21 divisions.
A press release hails the result as a reflection of the collective work carried out within the Luxembourg Karate Federation. Federation president Fred Charle praised not only Davies’ European title, but also the promising performances of the young Luxembourg athletes as a whole, highlighting their ability to represent the Grand Duchy with distinction on the international stage.
