On Sunday, at the John Scheuren Sports Centre in Oberkorn, FC Differdange 03 lifted the Super Cup, seeing off 1. FC Gruefwiss Leudelange 9-4. As reigning champions, Differdange were aiming to bank the first title of the new season. Having taken both the league and the cup last year, they went up against the cup's other finalist, 1. FC Gruefwiss Leudelange.

Differdange showed from the opening minutes why they have dominated futsal in recent years. Within five minutes, the favourites were already 3-0 up (goals from Beto, twice, and Reis), and the match looked all but over.

Following a timeout called by Leudelange, however, the visitors clawed their way back into the game with a quick goal, and soon narrowed the gap to 2-3 (both goals from Rocha).

The match then turned into an end-to-end affair, with both Differdange (Unjaque) and Leudelange (Gomes) finding the net. The favourites, however, had the last word of the first half, with Ruben Reis making it 5-3.

Differdange dominated the second half too. Leudelange did manage to pull one back, though it was not enough. Forced to throw everything forward, they left space at the back that Differdange were quick to exploit, sealing a 9-4 victory in the end.

A well-deserved win, and with it the first title of the new season for FC Differdange 03.
