Training equipment belonging to football club Swift Hesperange is scheduled for a forced auction on Wednesday, 7 January, adding to a series of recent crises at the club.
The announcement for the “forced sale” was made public Tuesday by the bailiff’s office “Etude Geoffrey Gallé” on social media. The notice listed the Alphonse Theis Stadium as the location. Such auctions can typically be cancelled if the outstanding debt is fully or partially settled.
When contacted by RTL Tuesday morning, club president Fernand Laroche asserted the auction would not proceed, claiming “the matter would be sorted out today”.
This development is the latest in a prolonged period of instability for the club. Swift Hesperange has recently faced several transfer bans, a physical altercation between former coach Hakim Menai and former sporting director Ebrahim Bouzzati, and the departure of its former patron Flavio Becca. Additionally, several players have lodged complaints with FIFA in recent years and months over unpaid salaries, a key factor in the imposed transfer bans.
