A young Luxembourg-based rugby fan made global headlines after watching South Africa's Rugby World Cup fixture on Sunday.

Nathan Swart, who is entering the sixth grade at International School Michel Lucius in Luxembourg City, managed to get South Africa star Faf de Klerk to sign his underwear, modelled on a pair the player famously wore after winning the 2019 World Cup.

Footage of the incident quickly spread online, with Swart appearing visibly emotional after meeting de Klerk. The scrum-half, earning his 50th cap, played a starring role as the Springboks defeated Scotland 18-3 in Marseille.

Swart is a keen player for Rugby Club Luxembourg and attended the match with his rugby-mad family. Nathan's father Victor is a coach, while his sister Neve has recently taken up playing and is currently the only girl on her team.

The family was also able to get a selfie with South Africa captain Siya Kolisi.

Rugby is on the rise in Luxembourg too, despite the cancellation of RCL's league for 2023/24. If you want to find out more about playing rugby in the Grand Duchy, visit the rugby.lu website.
