The 25-year-old athlete secured a gold medal for Luxembourg after outrunning her competition in the final of the 100-metre race at the World University Games in Chengdu, China.

The young sprinter and national record holder already ran the fastest time in the semi final, finishing the race in eleven seconds and 24 hundredths.

Van der Weken improved her time by another three hundredths in the final, which earned her the gold medal.
