F91 Dudelange has been dealt a huge blow just before the team leaves for Nicosia for the next match in the Europa League group phase.

Trainer Emilio Ferrera resigned ahead of the team's departure on Tuesday afternoon, and was not present on the flight to Nicosia, as confirmed by goalkeeper Jonathan Joubert. The team is due to play Apoel Nicosia on Thursday.

Luxembourg's football champions qualified for the group phase of the Europa League and are playing their first match against the Cypriot team on Thursday. Ferrera was praised for his football knowledge but criticised for his lack of social skills, both with players and members of the club.

The new co-trainer Bertrand Crasson is taking over in the interim period.
