Golden State coach Steve Kerr said superstar guard Stephen Curry was "fine" after limping out of the team's open practice on Sunday.

Curry pulled up short after his right foot skidded on the court as he made a turn.

He immediately pounded the basketball on the floor and made his way gingerly to the sideline before departing for the locker room.

Kerr told reporters after the practice that Curry told him he hurt his ankle, allaying fears that Curry  might have aggravated the right knee injury that kept him out of 27 games late last season.

"He's fine," Kerr said.

Curry, a four-time NBA champion and two-time Most Valuable Player, played in just 43 games last season.

The 38-year-old returned from the knee issue to play the last handful of games and in September the Warriors extended their long-term contract with Curry for two more years in a deal worth a reported $116 million.

The Warriors also re-signed Draymond Green and brought back coach Steve Kerr on a two-year deal.

Kerr acknowledged this week that his aging superstars, Curry in particular, will be carefully managed in the upcoming campaign and likely won't play all 82 games of the regular season.

"I would just come out and tell the fans out there to be mindful when you're buying the tickets of the schedule," Kerr said. "Take a look. Because we've got not just Steph but multiple vets we are going to try and manage, because it's the only way we can do this."

The Warriors open their season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
