Having appeared for the Luxembourg national team on three occasions, the 17-year-old – who stands at 1.93m – has had a turbulent start to life in Birmingham. Madjo is unable to play any competitive football, as he is under the age of 18 and signed from abroad which means he is not eligible to register, as stated in Article 19 of FIFA's rules which prohibits international transfers of players who are not of legal age. This came into place in 2020 when Britain left the European Union.
However, in his first start in a friendly match against League Two side Walsall, the young striker showed his full potential with two poacher-style finishes for the Villans within 45 minutes during a 5-0 victory. The display earned himself huge amounts of praise on social media with Aston Villa fans pleading for his inclusion for next season. He started the match alongside well-established players like Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey, and Ian Maatsen.
For now his future remains in limbo, with Aston Villa set to appeal his registration to the Court of Arbitration of Sport on 1 July, following his €12 million signing in January. If the appeal is successful, Madjo will likely feature in the Villans squad for the opening day of the Premier League season on 23 August against Brighton – if not, they will have to wait until he turns 18 on 12 January 2027. The youngster has been training with the first team and, according to reports, manager Unai Emery is impressed.
