Germany’s Emma Aicher powered to her third World Cup win of the season in the women’s super-G in Soldeu on Saturday, boosting her hopes of winning the season discipline crown.

The 22-year-old posted a time of one minute and 26.72 seconds in Andorra, winning by a wide margin of 0.88 seconds ahead of New Zealander Alice Robinson.

“I’m very happy, also really happy with my run,” said Aicher. “It’s nice to see that my skiing is going in the right direction.”

Corinne Suter of Switzerland, who won Friday’s downhill, had to settle for third.

Aicher’s second super-G win of the campaign pulled her to within 96 points of Sofia Goggia, who leads the discipline standings but could only finish sixth on Saturday.

The fifth World Cup win of her young career continued Aicher’s strong form from the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

She won two silver medals at the Games -- in the downhill and team combined, in which she displayed her versatility by posting the fastest time in the slalom.

Aicher is also third in the overall World Cup standings, 299 points adrift of leader Mikaela Shiffrin, who crashed out of the only super-G she has raced so far this campaign in St Moritz.

“You work your entire life to be there so it’s nice to see that the work you put in is paying off and you can be at the top and fight for good positions,” added Aicher.

Olympic super-G champion Federica Brignone could only finish in 15th place after making a costly early mistake.

Robinson’s second-place finish, only her second-ever podium in super-G after winning in St Moritz in December, dragged her to just 20 points behind Goggia with three super-G races left this season.

It was also her first top-three finish of 2026 after a poor run of form in which she failed to finish or qualify three times and finished outside the top 10 in four other races.

“Maybe today was finally this thing that’s going to get my confidence back where it needs to be, so I’m really excited we’ve got another race tomorrow,” Robinson said.

There is another super-G scheduled in Soldeu for Sunday.
