On Friday evening the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris was held.
The Luxembourg delegation was seen shortly after 9 PM, with Ni Xia Lian and Bob Bertemes carrying the red, white, and blue flag.

In heavy rain, the athletes drifted for 6 km on the Seine. The ceremony then took place at the Eiffel Tower at the Trocadero.
At 10:53 PM, French President Emmanuel Macron declared the Paris Olympic Games open after a spectacular show on the Seine.
Former French football star Zinedine Zidane handed the Olympic flame to Rafael Nadal, the record winner of the French Open in tennis. Afterwards, the flame was briefly carried by other sports stars before being passed to Marie-Jo Pérec and Teddy Riner, who received it in the Jardin des Tuileries.
The closing performance was performed by Céline Dion with a song by Edith Piaf.

Impressions from the Public Viewing in the City
The Ville de Luxembourg invited people to a public viewing to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on a large screen next to the Gëlle Fra. Even though it's not quite the same as being in Paris, people are looking forward to the thrilling sports competitions.
