Marc Marquez has taken the lead in the MotoGP World Championship standings following his fifth victory of the season. After a strong race, Marquez finished ahead of his brother Alex and Pedro Acosta, making it an all-Spanish podium in San Marino.

The race was full of ups and downs for the Spaniard. After Marco Bezzecchi dropped out early doors, Marquez moved into the lead, but was overtaken shortly afterwards by Jorge Martin. On lap 12, Marquez regained the lead and subsequently defended it from his brother Alex. Pedro Acosta and David Aldeguer also managed to overtake Martin.

Marc Marquez had written off his chances of winning the world championship a few months ago, but he now finds himself back at the top of the standings. On Saturday, he also won the sprint race ahead of Bezzecchi and Martin.

In Moto2, Manuel Gonzalez extended his lead in the World Championship standings with his fifth victory of the season. He finished comfortably ahead of Collin Veijer and Barry Baltus. Ivan Ortola and Izan Guevara, who finished fourth and sixth respectively, lost important ground to Gonzalez in the championship.

The Moto3 riders had already taken to the starting grid at 11am. Dominant championship leader Maximo Quiles narrowly beat his closest rival, David Almansa, while Brian Uriarte completed the podium.

It now appears increasingly unlikely that anyone will be able to deny Quiles the world title. With seven races remaining, he holds a lead of almost 90 points over Almansa. His victory at the Misano Circuit was his eighth win and 12th podium finish of the season.
