Spike Lawson and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are really two sides of the same punk-rock coin, tied together by one of the most playful cover bands in modern music.

At the center is Spike Slawson, known for his big voice, amazing delivery, and ability to turn almost any song into a high-energy punk anthem.

Spike made his name in the San Francisco punk scene, especially through his work with bands like Swingin’ Utters – and later as the unmistakable lead singer of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

Formed in the mid-1990s, the band is essentially a punk “supergroup” made up of members from other well-known punk outfits. Their entire concept is built on covering songs from wildly different genres such as pop, country, and R&B, and reimagining them as fast and loud punk anthems.

What makes the combo work so well is the contrast. Both Slawson and the band perform familiar and often sentimental songs, which are stripped down and rebuilt with fast tempos, distorted guitars, and a heavy dose of sarcasm and fun.

Whether they’re turning a classic ballad into a crowd singalong or lean into over-the-top theatricality, the band never takes itself too seriously.

Live, it’s pure chaos in the best way: singalongs, crowd participation, and a rotating setlist that will make fans obsessed.

Spike and the Gimme Gimmes will take to den Atelier’s stage on 29 October 2026, with doors opening on 7pm and the band appearing soon after.

The official ticket sale starts this Friday, 17 April at 10 am, so make sure to save the date if you want to attend!
