Pilot Light have quickly built momentum since the release of their debut single I’ll Show You Pain. What began as a trio has now expanded into a five piece, with Tomas Lenz, Cyril Yabroudi, Vanessa Cicognani, and Luca Daresta completing the lineup. The band have already made a strong impression on local stages, with standout performances at Rock Justice Festival, Blues Express, and Rotondes.
Their new track Fake It leans into a heavier, sharper edge, blending 90s inspired grit with modern indie energy. Lyrically, the song takes aim at surface level success and the pressure to perform authenticity in an online world, exploring the fatigue that comes with chasing trends rather than craft.
Speaking on the Sam Steen Show, Carey explained that the song grew out of frustration with the idea of shortcuts in music and creativity. Rather than chasing quick wins, Fake It reflects a belief in taking the long road, building something honest, and letting songs grow naturally both in the studio and on stage.
That DIY mindset also shaped the track’s accompanying video. Shot entirely in the band’s garage, the visuals were created using improvised effects, smoke, and lighting, keeping things raw and playful while matching the song’s confrontational spirit.
Live shows remain a key part of the band’s identity, and Fake It has already become a highlight in their set. Pilot Light have a busy run of dates ahead, including a Valentine’s special at Rocas on February 14, a St Patrick’s Day show at Black Stuff on March 17, a return to Differdange on March 20, and multiple appearances during Fête de la Musique in June. More dates are expected to be announced later in the year.
Fake It is released on January 30 and will be available across all major streaming platforms.
