Morrison joined the Sam Steen Show on RTL Today Radio ahead of his appearance at Echterlive 2026 this summer, where he’ll be bringing a bag full of his classic hits to Luxembourg audiences on July 26th.

“It’s pretty mad,” Morrison said of the 20-year milestone. “I never really take it for granted. I’m still happy just to be playing music and the fact that people are buying tickets to the shows… it means a lot to me.”

Looking back, and forward

Released in 2006, Undiscovered introduced Morrison to the world with tracks like You Give Me Something, launching a career that has seen him sell millions of records, win Brit Awards and build a loyal live following across Europe.

At the time though, he says his expectations were far smaller.

“I knew I had to sell 100,000 albums to get a second record,” he explained. “And then it sold a million.”

That sudden rise brought its own challenges.

“The next few years after that were this massive sense of imposter syndrome,” he admitted. “I was like… why am I here?”

Now, with 20 years behind him, Morrison says he’s finally able to properly appreciate the career he’s built.

“It’s the first time in my life where I can sort of sit back and look at what I’ve achieved,” he said.

Why live music still matters

For Morrison, performing remains the heart of everything.

“I still love playing live just as much as I ever did,” he said. “That’s all I ever wanted when I was a kid really, to be in a band and play music.”

He also spoke about the importance of young artists gaining real-world experience by playing smaller venues and pub gigs before stepping onto bigger stages.

“You have to develop a tough skin,” he said. “Playing pubs and open mics teaches you so much about reading a room and connecting with people.”

It’s advice he’s now passing on directly to his daughter, who has been joining him on stage during the anniversary tour.

“She’s singing four or five songs with me,” Morrison revealed. “It’s a really nice full-circle moment.”

For Morrison, the anniversary tour isn’t really about looking backwards. It’s more about reconnecting with the songs that changed his life and the audiences who’ve stayed with him over the last two decades. And judging by the reaction so far, those songs still mean just as much now as they did in 2006.

“It’s nostalgic,” he said of revisiting the older material live. “The songs take me right back to being 21 and not really knowing what I was doing… but just going for it.”
