Never ones to shy away from biting lyrics and crashing guitar riffs, Irish garage punk outfit SPRINTS certainly have some thoughts to share about the current political and social climate. And with their brand-new single Trickle Down, they have further refined their sound.

Their debut LP, Letter to Self, was met with critical acclaim when it released in 2024. Lauded for its punchy sound and confrontational style, it launched the Dublin-based four-piece straight into the rock ‘n’ roll circuit – which included a stopover at Luxembourg’s Rotondes in August of 2025.
The band have since been hard at work refining their vision of a world on fire. In tracks like Descartes off their 2025 album All That Is Over, they explicitely call out the proliferation of war and social injustice – and specifically point out that artistic expression can simultaneously feel hopeless and optimistic in such circumstances.
In their latest single, released on Tuesday, 3 March, their perspective maintains this signature scope. A raw and refined refutation of trickle down economics, capitalist contradictions, and a collapsing world order, the track is both catchy and biting. And yet, a rebellious sense of hope shines through.
It’s the frustration of a generation stuck in ‘wait mode’ while everything burns”, as the band explains in regards to Trickle Down.
Fans new and old of SPRINTS can look forward to their next show at den Atelier on Sunday, 29 March. And in case you missed it, listen to their excellent cover of Le Tigre’s iconic tune, Deceptacon, released late last January. It’s garage punk excellence.
