According to Est Républicain, the young victim succumbed to her injuries after the violent impact. She allegedly attempted to cross a railway track in Jarville-La-Malgrange together with a friend. Her friend is unharmed, but under shock.
The train implicated in the accident - a TER which links Nancy and Epinal - stopped some hundred metres after the impact. The passengers on the train had to be looked after. Railway traffic on the line has been stopped temporarily.
