The man, aged 54, got out of a car beside his wife and “suddenly” shot her on the pavement, according to police. The killer turned himself in at the police station. The woman died in hospital, the couple’s teenage son suffered a severe shock and was also taken to hospital.
The suspect was brought before a magistrate on Tuesday. An arrest warrant was issued against him for treacherous murder. Another man who drove the car and accompanied the husband is also under investigation for possible involvement.
The victim was from Chemnitz in Saxony, and the couple had been living separately. Officials did not provide any further details or information on possible backgrounds to the crime, citing ongoing investigations.
