Fighting against child abuseUser messages may be scanned again

RTL Today
Online platforms such as Facebook/Google will be allowed to scan the private data of EU users in the future.

A corresponding transitional regulation was given the green light by the European Commission on Thursday.

Since the end of last year, the filtering of messages sent via email or messenger service is no longer allowed according to an EU code.

For the fight against child abuse, however, an exception is to be made again for the next 3 years, which will also be laid down in law.

The companies affected are Facebook, Google and Microsoft, which have already cooperated a lot with the authorities.
