The United States struck Iran and Tehran hit back at US allies in the Gulf, as the foes battled over the vital Strait of Hormuz in the renewed Middle East war.

Here are Thursday's latest developments:

US targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan hit

Iranian state media reported that the Iranian military carried out separate drone attacks on US bases and facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain.

The army said it targeted the "communication systems and fuel storage facilities of the U.S. military" in Jordan.

Separately, the military said it struck "radar systems, a Patriot air defense system, and fuel storage facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base" in Kuwait and US military facilities at the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, IRIB reported.

Kuwait's military said it intercepted "drone attacks following the nefarious Iranian aggression", and Bahrain's interior ministry urged citizens and residents to "remain calm and head to the nearest safe place.

US completes new round of strikes

The US military said it completed an evening wave of strikes against Iran, in which it targeted command centers, air defence sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities.

The US Central Command said on X the strikes aimed "to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten innocent mariners crewing commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz".

The military said it struck targets in multiple locations, including Bandar Abbas. In an earlier attack, CENTCOM said US forces struck coastal defence and cruise missile sites on Greater Tunb Island during a 90-minute wave.

"The U.S. military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief's direction," it added.

Iranians killed

Seven hours of US raids earlier hit dozens of targets, the US military said, with the Iranian army saying seven personnel had been killed in a missile strike at a barracks close to the southeastern city of Iranshahr.

"US fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels launched precision munitions against Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, and coastal defence systems during the seven-hour wave to further degrade Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping and civilian crews," CENTCOM said.

Iran hangs protester

Iran's judiciary said Mohammad Amini Dehaghani had been hanged after he was found guilty of taking part in anti-government protests at the start of the year. The judiciary's press agency called him "a collaborator with the enemy".

Briton's term extended

Iran has added two years to a 10-year jail term being served by British man Craig Foreman for talking to the media, his son said.

Foreman, who was accused of spying, and his wife Lindsay were detained while in Iran during a round-the-world motorbike trip in 2025. Both were jailed for 10 years.

Sailor's body found

The body of an Indian sailor, Heramb Karmarkar, who went missing after his ship was attacked off the coast of Oman on Sunday has been recovered, a seafarers' union official said.

Hormuz to stay shut

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the United States ends its "acts of aggression" and warned that other regional oil export routes could become targets.

"Oil and gas exports from the region will either be available for everyone or for no one," the statement said.
