According to the “Est Républicain” newspaper, the child disappeared from his parents’ view while playing near the port of Epinal.
Tragically, his body was later recovered from the Moselle river by the police, near the Golbey hydroelectric station.
In a last-ditch attempt to save the two-year-old boy’s life, firefighters carried out a cardiac massage, unfortunately without success.
An investigation into the case was opened and an autopsy will be conducted on Monday. Accidental drowning currently seems to be the most likely cause of death.
