The man stabbed his 36-year-old daughter in October. The woman suffers from a chronic and incurable illness causing progressive blindness and panic attacks.
The defendant told the court that he wanted to relieve her of her pain by killing her and had attempted to take his own life after the incident. Both parties survived, with the man’s daughter dragging herself to the apartment’s front door despite her severe injuries. Her neighbours found her and took her to the hospital, where an emergency operation saved her from succumbing to her injuries.
The Trier court has found the man guilty of attempted murder and sentenced him to 7.5 years in prison.
