
2 hours away from Luxembourg, Bobenheim in Rheinland-Pfalz experienced a tornado on Friday, which destroyed 11 houses and a number of cars. Videos and images shown in German media clearly show the whirlwind in action.
A spokesperson for the German weather service described it as a weak tornado, although police reported damages worth in the millions.
Other areas in Germany experienced extreme weather conditions on Friday. In Thüringen, around 17 vehicles ran into difficulty after strong rains, causing a number of accidents in which 23 people were injured.
In other places, floods and landslides were reported, while Frankfurt airport experienced delays due to the weather.
