Early on Sunday morning, on the A81 heading towards Stuttgart, the front right tire of a truck’s trailer burst. Consequently, the truck veered off the lane, crashing into the guardrail. The 20-year-old driver was slightly injured in the accident.
The 40-ton truck was loaded with 21 tons of kebab meat, some of which fell onto the road during the accident. A Renault, which was behind the truck, was damaged when it drove over the spilled skewers.
The truck and its cargo suffered material damage estimated at about 70,000 euros.
As ‘Spiegel’ reports, the highway remained closed into the afternoon between Tauberbischofsheim and Ahorn. The salvage and cleanup work is expected to continue until late in the evening.
