“Courage” and “devotion”, these were the two words inscribed on the diploma awarded to Yann Pierre, 22 years old and originally from Richardménil, just south of Nancy. At risk of his own safety, the young student prevented a man in his forties from throwing himself off a bridge that spans the A330 motorway on 10 September of this year.
Yann showed no hesitation in grabbing onto the man to prevent him from falling onto the heavily trafficked road below; a life-saving gesture that enabled additional help to arrive. The prefect of Meurthe-et-Moselle thus presented him with a bronze medal, after which he was congratulated and celebrated by emergency services.
