The incident took place around 5.30pm on Saturday. According to the Républicain Lorrain, around thirty firefighters rushed to the scene. They were joined by specialized chemical risk management teams from Metz, Montigny-lès-Metz, Hagondange and Thionville.

The teams proceeded with caution as chlorine gas can be very dangerous. Police established a security perimeter and access to nearby buildings such as a school and a hospital was restricted.

The leak allegedly occurred in the storage room of the chlorine bottles. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
