
The accident occurred on the D674 between Puttelange-aux-Lacs and Saint-Jean-Rohrbach. Two cars collided, and due to the violent nature of the impact, the fuel tank and rear suspension of the Peugeot 306 involved in the crash were projected around 100 metres from the scene.
According to the France Bleu Lorraine Nord, the driver of the Peugeot was a 52-year-old man, who died in the crash. His passenger, a 21-year-old man, was taken to a hospital in Nancy in a helicopter but his life could not be saved. A 29-year-old woman involved in the accident was also in critical condition and had to be taken to hospital in Metz.
A further individual, a 25-year-old man, was only lightly injured and was taken to hospital in Sarreguemines.
