The BBC reported on Thursday that Tatprof, a Russian aluminum manufacturer, is running a “femininity marathon” campaign until 30 June.
Female employees are able to earn an extra 100 roubles (€1,38) per hour if they decide to wear a skirt or dress to work.
The skirt or dress need to be “no longer than five centimetres from the knee” to receive the bonus on top of their regular wage. To receive the bonus, employees have to send a picture to the company office.
Speaking to radio station Govorit Moskva, the a company’s spokesperson said: “Many women automatically wear trousers to work, which is why we hope that our campaign will raise our ladies’ awareness, allowing them to feel their femininity and charm when they make the choice of wearing a skirt or dress.”
Social media users were not impressed, describing the campaign as horribly sexist and a sick fantasy of the head of the corporation.
The company’s aim is to lighten up Tatprof’s working culture by holding competitions amongst employees and organising events.
