"Do you want to see the dead? Shame on you!"Rubber-neckers get more than they bargained for as a police officer dresses down the curious

In a video that has gone viral, a German police officer was filmed shaming motorists who had been taking photographs at the scene of a fatal accident.

The German media outlet BR24 shared a video on Twitter in which a policeman dresses down motorists who slowed down to take pictures of a fatal accident on the A6 motorway.

Whilst the police officer’s reaction may skirt with the boundaries of taste, it is a damning commentary on those fascinated by road deaths as if it is entertainment.

Stefan Pfeiffer, the police officer in question, explained: “They need to understand what exactly they are doing and we realise that by confronting them directly with this kind of situation, it shocks them and they realise that it is not a game. That’s the sad reality.”

The police officer confronted drivers in English, asking them directly if they’d like to see the corpse and berating them sarcastically when they showed reluctance.

The 47-year-old man involved in the accident on the stretch of the A6 between Roth and Nuremberg died at the scene. He crashed into a semi-trailer which was travelling at a slower pace. No further circumstances have been determined as of yet.

In Germany, slowing down and taking photographs of road accidents is punishable by a €128.50 fine. In the Grand Duchy, the law dictates that motorists are fined €145 and lose two points off their license.
