The rockstar said it was “ridiculous” that people are having to wait for long periods in order to access essential scans and treatment.

In January, nurses in England began a fresh wave of strikes over pay and conditions in the UK’s state-run health service.

The nurses unions say that health workers are under pressure due to staff shortages, as they battle a backlog in appointments made worse by cancellations during the pandemic.

In an effort to help up, Rod Stewart funded for a mobile scanning unit to carry out 20 appointments outside a hospital in Essex today. He warned, “If we don’t have the NHS, it will be like the United States.”

He added that, while he did not want to “get political... there must be enough money in the coffers to pay up for these nurses.”

In a wide-ranging interview with Sky News, he also urged the UK government to support efforts to get F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
