
Lionel Kneib, owner of the bar-restaurant “La Limite” in the Vallières district in Metz, died on Thursday night of a shot to head, in circumstance which remain unclear according to Le Républicain Lorrain.
The 47-year-old man was found on the ground shortly after the alert was raised at 1am on Friday morning. Two witnesses were on the scene at the time of the incident. Despite efforts by paramedics, Kneib was declared dead two hours later.
An investigation has been opened into the incident and according to the first testimonies, the victim was said to be holding a weapon when the shot went off. The Républicain Lorrain reported that there is no information as yet on whether the matter is a case of murder.
