According to information published by the Républicain Lorrain, a hundred inmates at Queuleu prison in Metz held a protest as they refused to return to their cells on Sunday evening.
The reason given for the protest was their fear of degraded health conditions amid an epidemic of coronavirus within the establishment, which had not applied many protective measures.
The prisoners eventually returned to their cells later that evening.
