On Monday night, an ATM was destroyed in an explosion in the German town of Nittel, located directly along the border with Luxembourg.
Police were alerted around 3.46am after nearby residents reported hearing a loud blast. One witness observed that the ATM, situated not far from Route du Vin, had been blown up. Shortly afterward, a white estate car – possibly a Citroën – was seen speeding away from the scene.
The ATM stood freestanding next to a building, which prevented structural damage to adjacent properties. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities are now appealing for witnesses who may have noticed suspicious activity or who can provide information about the vehicle involved. Anyone with relevant details is urged to contact the Trier police at 004965198343390 or the Saarburg police at 004965198343390.
