The horrible discovery was made on Saturday on the side of a lead track near the Libramont train station. A police patrol found the corpse of the 17-year-old from the Ardennes area, who had just been reported as missing by his family.

The circumstances of the incident are yet to be determined. According to the Belgian media sources, the adolescent had gone out with his friends and disappeared during the night.

His family contacted the police the day after, upon realising that their son had not come home, and launched a call for witnesses on social media. The post was massively shared by the region’s inhabitants.

According to Sudinfo, the adolescent’s body was found only a few meters from the site he had last been seen at, where he took part in the festivities of the city’s agricultural fair.

The preliminary conclusions drawn from the autopsy suggest that the teenager died after an accidental fall. Investigations into the exact circumstances of the death are currently taking place in Libramont, which has been bereaved by the incident.

The young man’s 18th birthday would have been this November.
